I've been a volunteer, ambulance medic, firefighter/paramedic, flight paramedic, trainer, manager, and so on, and so forth, blah, blah.<br /><br />Until last year, I would have agreed with you. But I was terminated from my position as a professional pastor last Summer. I didn't do anything immoral, didn't do anything outside of my job description, and for all intents and purposes (to borrow your phrase), I didn't do anything wrong.<br /><br />Unfortunately, there are a lot of unwritten rules, a lot of politics, and the whole 24/7 bit includes my family's actions - not just mine.<br /><br />So, you write a great piece - and you are a good writer. I am not a paramedic, I am an EMT-IA but I don't buy into the division statements and I'm just happy I get to do a job I crave and enjoy. Sometimes the good Lord allows me to make a difference but only if I study hard, practice long, and serve with diligence and compassion. Thanks...it is just like "poetry". What a great piece! Your story really gets you to thinking. What kind of paramedic you are? I guess after 12 years of being a paramedic Im the one that does all the extra thing to make myself a better medic. I love my job and could not see myself doing any think else.
